Spatial Meditation

Guided Meditation

This guided practice is an exploration of awareness. Extending our awareness into the space outside of our bodies helps us to rest in the present, and reveal a hidden wholeness in ourselves and our relationships.

Meditate on your own or with a group

  • Find a comfortable way of sitting, eyes gently closed.
  • Settle in and feel what’s present for you.
  • Take a deep breath, and feel your energetic body calm down.
  • There is a loving Presence around and within us.
  • Make contact with this Presence by feeling into the space behind your body...then the space in front of your body...then the space behind and space in front of your body at the same time.
  • Next, feel into the space to the left of your body...then to the right of your body...then both sides, simultaneously.
  • Next, be aware of the space above your head...then the space below...then above and below at the same time.
  • Now, sense into the entire space surrounding your body in all three planes: back to front, side to side, and top to bottom, all at the same time. Presence surrounds your body.
  • Having sensed the space outside your body, be aware of space inside your body. Presence lights up every sensation inside your body.
  • Now, let the space inside your body, and the space outside your body, be one space.
  • Rest here in the comfort and aliveness of Presence.
