Connecting Breath with Presence Meditation

Guided Meditation

In this short guided meditation, we will explore connecting our breath with presence. This is a practice of observing, rather than seeking; being, rather than doing.

For the next few minutes, we will be less interested in the contents of the mind, and more interested in the context in which thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations come and go.

Meditate on your own or with a group

  • In a comfortable posture, close your eyes and breathe deeply: holding the exhale just a little longer than normal.
  • Settling in, feel the weight of your body held by whatever it is you are resting on.
  • With each breath, welcome a slightly deeper kind of calm.
  • Let the “doer” or the “problem solver” take a rest.
  • What happens when we take a break from doing?
  • What happens when we simply be?
  • Grounded in the present, what if the peace we seek is here now?
